In my 4th semester at Stanford, I took one of my favourite classes of all time, Sand Casting. The class was part of the PRL, and had a focus on
- how sandcasting can be used at scale in manufacturing
- how to deal with defects and get good surface finish
- mold design
- design for strength/material efficiency
