Library Shelves + Digitiser

Tash and I have a lot of books, and a long while back dedicated a room in our house (the old hay loft) to be Tash’s office and library. I built some long (16ft) shelves for the back wall.
Digitising
I’m currently working on digitising the collection.
- take photos
- stitch photos
- opencv to find book spines
- OCR for book titles/author/info
- IBSN lookup
- walkthrough viewer of the shelves
- clickable links for books
- searchable title index
The main difficulty currently is getting good photos. The glossy spines have a lot of glare and are messing with the OCR.
I am also going back and forth on how close the images should be to: 1. avoid distortion and 2: be consistently hi res enough for the OCR.
This is a WIP so I will continue to update with progress.
